The Novice Vintners are Married!

After being together for 3.31 years, Buddy and Colleen set their sights and plans for a small and private April 12th 2008 outdoor wedding held at the beautiful Bed & Breakfast, Clover Forest Plantation, in Goochland County. The event and ceremony was attended by some immediate family and a small cross section of mutual friends.  Of special mention was the generous photography work done by Tim and Alison Heater. (A photo gallery is slowly being assembled now)  Also of special mention was the live and recorded music provided by Buddy's brother and Best Man, Brian Bishop.

Officiating was Mike Randell, President of Chamberlain Actors Theater.  The authority to perform "Rites of Matrimony" was generously granted by Goochland Judge Sanner.  This was indeed a privilege as this kind of one time exception is very uncommon and was allowed to go forward due to the strength and range of Mike's public service in the military, law enforcement and community theater to mention but a few.

The Growing Experiment enters year Six

Originally, 90 grafted vines from Grafted Grapevine Nurseries were planted in 2003.  Each year about 15 - 30 new vines were planted to expand or to replace vines that didn't make it.
This year 29 Cabernet Franc and 8 Pinot Noir will join the mix of the 162 other existing vines.

It always fascinates....

The sight of an emerging bud on a grapevine is, to us, a stunning sight.  Words can't quite express the how and why of it, but really does impel and motivate us to pursue this activity.  Occasionally, even in earnest!
